In 2012, the Small-scale Fishery Policy that Masifundise and Coastal Links, together with partners and allies, have long fought for, has been promulgated. This lead to the current phase of the implementation of the policy. In order to support Coastal Links and Small-scale Fishing Communities in navigating the implementation process, Masifundise has developed a series of Guides for SSF Communities. The purpose of these guides in to provide accessible tools for fishers’ activist and members of communities to understand and engage in different aspects and themes related to small-scale fisheries in South Africa and in particular in securing that the implementation of the SSF Policy is carried out in line with the principles and aspirations SSF expressed in the Policy itself.
