On 4th of June, Masifundise, together with Coastal Links and other organisations’ representatives, addressed the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Environment, Forestry and Fisheries on the state of small-scale fishing communities and subsistence fishers as well as the problems faced by these largely impoverished communities by the Covid-19 crisis and the national lockdown. In this context, Masifundise was requested to submit a report to the portfolio committee on the state of inland and coastal small-scale fisheries and the impact of Covid-19 on the sector.
