Masifundise hosts the launch of its first report and documentary on Inland Fisheries!
The report and the video explore the challenges that inland small-scale fishing communities face as a result of the lack of recognition for their livelihood activities, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is timely as in August Cabinet approved the National Freshwater (Inland) Wild Capture Fisheries Policy for South Africa.
During the launch, the findings of the research report will be present, followed by the screening of the Inland Fishing short documentary. The event will close with a panel discussion with Masifundise’s Director Naseegh Jaffer, the short documentary’s Pablo Pinedo, and small-scale fishers’ representatives from Vanderkloof, Gariep and Jozini Dam.
