The SSFP requires a small-scale fishing community to register a community based legal entity. The legal entity that a community will have to register is a co-operative as identified by the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries.

Masifundise recognises the fact that co-operatives might not be a viable option for all communities, yet we also recognise the need for information and knowledge sharing.
