The Annual General Meeting of Masifundise and Coastal Links has set the stage for the further empowerment of small-scale fishers around the country. The AGM took place in Cape Town two weeks ago.
The non-elective AGM, attended by 70 delegates from all four Coastal provinces, adopted strong resolutions aimed at speeding up the implementation of the Small-Scale Fisheries (SSF) policy and the building of skills among fishers.
One of the resolutions stated: “This AGM Resolves: To ensure that a sound understanding of the legal and financial aspects of legal entities under the Small Scale Fisheries policy is built so that community members are well informed about their rights, responsibilities, obligations and opportunities as members of legal entities”.
